City of Davis, CA issues RFP for website, marketing services for Hate-Free Together

Scope of Work: The City of Davis (City) is soliciting statements of qualifications from proposers interested in providing services for website design and marketing services for the Hate-Free Together campaign. The Hate-Free Together campaign is a joint partnership with the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) and the County of Yolo (County) to provide resources, support and opportunities for action to condemn hate, create safety and cultivate change in the community. Additional partners may be added as communities of interest.

Deliverables for the Hate-Free Together campaign include, but are not limited to:

  • Task A. Website
    •  A.1. Design, host, create, maintain and update the website for 2-3 years. With input and review from the City, County and UC Davis, contractor will design, host, create, maintain and update a website (www.hatefreetogether.org) that is attractive, modern, user friendly and ADA accessible and allows for changes or edits City of Davis Request for Proposal Website and Marketing Services for Hate-Free Together Page 5 of 29 to be made easily. The website will include features such as videos, graphics, calendar of events, newsletter sign-up form, links to other websites or organizations and more. After confirming what will be on the website with the three agencies listed, including colors, fonts and themes, contractor will create the website in a timely manner with agreed upon check-ins. The contractor will maintain and update, as necessary, the website for a maximum of three years, to start once the website is finalized and live for public consumption/viewing.
    • A.2 – A.7. Create a workplan, timeline, draft pages, color themes and designs, progress reports and invoicing for the website.
    • A.8. The website must include the following:
      • History of the effort and the agencies currently involved
      • How to report hate crimes in the various jurisdictions
      • Educational videos and resources
      • A list of local nonprofits or groups for more information
      • A calendar of events that are approved by the City, County or UC Davis
      • Links to local statements, resolutions or proclamations standing up to hate crimes and incidents or in support of a hate-free community
      • Links to social media pages
      • Marketing toolkit and/or downloadable materials
      • Statistics on hate crimes at a local, regional, state and federal level
      • Other information, as needed or approved
  • Task B. Marketing
    • B.1. Create and design materials for a toolkit for the Hate-Free Together campaign, including, but not limited to: posters, social graphics, swag, template language, draft press releases and more in English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese. The materials should be applicable for a range of audiences, such as youth, families, businesses, agencies, local nonprofits and more.
    • B.2. Optional: Create and design a “Safe Space” business program that entails recruiting businesses to be a ‘safe place’ either for someone to enter if they feel unsafe or showing the business does not tolerate hate.
