Per Kantar, Universal tends to invest highly in broadcast, digital, outdoor, and print media channels, with gradually-declining investments in radio marketing.
So far this year, iSpot reports that the company has spent $192.3 million on national TV commercials that have largely targeted various sports programs and The Voice (see targeting right). Universal's total 2017 spend decreased a bit to $329.1 million from $396.2 million the previous year.
According to Pathmatics, the company's year-to-date (YTD) digital display spend of $5 million has gone towards 865.6 million impressions, with most ads placed site direct (59%) and through Google Ads (37%). Top destinations include tripadvisor.com, youtube.com, vrbo.com, wwe.com, and usatoday.com. Last year, Universal's spend saw a spike in the second half of the year and rose to $22.5 million from $16 million in 2016.
