B2B Media Opps: QuickBooks uses 80's nostalgia in new ad campaign


In its latest ad campaign, 

According to iSpot's approximations, QuickBooks spent around $64.8 million on national TV commercials in 2019, largely targeting male audiences (see targeting right). Most of these commercials aired during Q1 and Q4, and spend rose from around $60.3 million in 2018, a 7% change.

Adbeat reports that most of the company's digital display ads promote parent company Intuit; its full spend increased by 18% to an estimated $56.7 million (2019) from an estimated $47.9 million (2018). Most of last year's ads were either YouTube videos on youtube.com ($22.7 million) or were placed site direct ($22.8 million) on publishers such as yahoo.com ($5.1 million), wikia.com, aol.com and foxnews.com.

It may be getting too late to be a part of QuickBooks's planning conversations in Q2 and its buying period conversations in Q1. Kantar indicates that the brand also utilizes print and radio. It tends to target small business owners and their accountants, along with people who need to do their taxes. As I briefly mentioned earlier, QuickBooks seems to be targeting more Gen-X and older millennials.
