Gen-Z, Millennial Media Opps: Lenovo taps CMO amid rise in digital spend (Score 66)

According to iSpot, Lenovo has only allocated around $253 toward national TV commercials YTD; these have targeted viewers of Beyond Innovation. By this point last year, the company had allocated around $707.4k toward this channel. Lenovo didn't invest in this channel after this point last year.

So far this year, Pathmatics reports the company has spent roughly $17.3m on digital ads, up 9% from the roughly $15.8m it spent within the same 2020 timeframe. In 2020, Lenovo's estimated full-year spend more than doubled to $26m from that of $10.5m in 2019. It has earned ~~2.1b digital impressions YTD via desktop video (32%), Instagram (21%), Twitter (17%), Facebook (14%), desktop display (14%), mobile video (1%) and mobile display (1%) ads. Most of this year's desktop video ads have been placed site direct onto destinations such as youtube.com (60%), finance.yahoo.com, yahoo.com, sports.yahoo.com and cnn.com.

Additionally, Magellan reveals Lenovo has aired 92 podcast ads within the past 12 months.

Right now, the company is targeting Gen-Z via paid social and YouTube ads, and it's targeting millennials via desktop display and podcast ads. Thus, sellers able to offer high-ROI digital spend among these audiences will have the upper hand securing ad dollars.
