Told Ya!, Campaign Imminent: Dave & Busters taps creative AOR, starts gradually reopening (Score 71)


Not long after hiring SVP and CMO Brandon Coleman in Mother NY as its creative AOR to develop new national and regional marketing campaigns and enhanced, tailored guest communications. We do not believe there was an incumbent agency.

D&B is currently gradually reopening its locations after they temporarily closed due to the global pandemic.

iSpot reports the company spent around $15m on national TV ads YTD, down 70% from $25.5m during the same time period of 2019. Full-year spend equaled $74.3m in 2019 and $65.7m in 2018. It mainly targets Gen-Z and millennial dads via this channel (see targeting right).

It also invests in local advertisements such as OOH, print (newspapers and Hispanic newspapers) and radio. Lower national TV commercial spend has allowed for higher digital display ad spend in an effort to reach Gen-Z and millennial men, especially dads in search of family-friendly entertainment. D&B's unlimited wings and video games promotion appeal to this target demographic. You may also want to offer paid social, podcast and/or OTT ad space considering this desired audience. Since Mother's remit includes regional advertising, you should also offer local ad space around D&B's locations.
