Female Gen-X, Millennial Opps: TJX announces online HomeGoods store amid spend decreases


HomeGoods, recently announced it is launching an online eCommerce platform for the HomeGoods brand. It is set to launch in late 2021. The company's goal is to expand its customer base by attracting younger consumers, who love to shop online. We will likely see increased ad dollars, and possible even a campaign, to promote the online store. We will be sure to update you once more details are available. 

According to Pathmatics, HomeGoods earned 151.3m impressions through desktop video ads (44%), Instagram ads (30%), Facebook ads (25%) and desktop display ads (1%). It placed 100% of these ads site direct onto site such as instagram.com, youtube.com, facebook.com, hulu.com and purewow.com. It spent around $1.6m on digital display ads over the last 365 days, down 81% from $2.9m spent in this channel over the 365 days prior. 

Per iSpot, HomeGoods spent around $7.5m on national TV ads YTD, all during Q1 and Q2. Full-year spend equaled $24.9m in 2019 and $28.8m in 2018. This year it placed ads during programming such as programming such as "Friends," "Home Town," "Vanderpump Rules," "FBI" and "American Idol."

Sellers-- HomeGoods seems to target primarily Gen-X and millennial women through digital display and national TV ads. TJX invests in OOH and radio ads, per Kantar. It has been decreasing spend in 2020, but it is part of cost-cutting measures amid the coronavirus outbreak. We will likely increased spending throughout the remainder of Q4 during the holiday season and into 2021. Sellers should reach out offering relevant ad space.
