Close Watch: Friendly’s snags El Pollo Loco CMO amid ongoing struggles (Score 52)
has selected Ed Valle, former CMO at El Pollo Loco, as its chief brand officer, effective mid-October. The former El Pollo Loco CMO brings additional marketing leadership experience from Choice Hotels, Panera and Dunkin' Brands, and he replaces Randy Davis, Friendly's CMO since 2014, who departed in August.
Per Kantar, the company is pretty friendly towards investments in broadcast and outdoor media channels, but its digital, print and radio spend have steadily decreased over the course of the past couple of years.
According to Pathmatics, a YTD digital display spend of $56,900 has generated 2.8 million impressions, with most ads placed site direct (99%) on evite.com and myrtlebeachonline.com. Friendly's total 2017 spend increased significantly to $333,900 from that of $87,200 the previous year.
