Score 67 - On the Brink: Fazoli’s promotes CMO amid spend increases


Italian restaurant chain Fazoli's has promoted marketing VP of two years, Jodie Conrad, to the position of CMO, effective August. When she joined Fazoli's as senior brand marketing director in 2016, Conrad brought marketing leadership experience from roles at Wendy's, MarketSquare Solution, Donatos Pizza, Coca-Cola and Pillsbury.

Fazoli's has also program, both in order to pursue expansion.

During the past 12 months, Adbeat reports that Fazoli's has spent $1,700 on digital display ads placed primarily via Google ($1,600) onto sites such as auntbeesrecipes.com ($800), thekitchn.com and cafedelites.com. Spend here is increasing; within the prior 12-month period (Sept 2017-2018), it only totaled $1,000.

Fazoli's, named Kentucky's Best Fast Food by here. Sellers local to these areas may have the upper hand, especially those with high ROI strategies among millennial and older Gen-Z parents (mom skew). Spend typically spikes during Q2, so reach out while Fazoli's is planning in Q1. Along with digital, according to Kantar, it uses local broadcast and OOH. It has stopped using print and radio, though.

Agency & martech readers - while promoted CMOs don't always conduct reviews as often as outside hires might, it certainly wouldn't hurt to reach out for potential work. Competition will include Right Place Media. Also consider offering digital and/or social media services to continue increasing its millennial reach.
