Millennial Media Opps: Cici's Pizza loses CMO (Score 49)
Billio Jo Warra departed from brand marketing Kristy Hudepoh also left this month for a new position with August United, and marketing coordinator Kelsie Tripp joined in January 2020 from Joe's Crab Shack, where she worked as a brand ambassador.
Cici's has more than 450 locations, mostly in the South, and it plans on expanding to around 500 locations by 2021. It could increase its marketing budget once a new CMO is hired to promote these new stores.
According to iSpot's estimations, Cici's spent around $30.5m on national TV ads in 2019, an 8% increase from $28m in 2018. It spent most of its TV budget during H1 in both years.
Sellers-- Cici's fast-casual and cheap unlimited buffet style appeals to Gen-X and millennial parents. It mainly utilizes digital and national TV ads.The pizza chain decreased digital spending dramatically in 2019, so it must receive a higher ROI through TV ads. Cici's is known for offering limited-time specials, but according to QSR, the brand has started shifting its strategy to focus on variety within its buffet.
