Millennial Momvertising Opps: Cicis hires CMO amid spend increases (Score 76)


Wild Alaskan Company, and she has extensive restaurant marketing experience including stints at Bar Louie, Red Robin and Lone Star Steakhouse. Hoppe has been tasked with improving Cicis' digital presence to help it reach its customers more effectively. Keep an eye on the pizza chain because this hire will affect its marketing strategy, and could lead to agency reviews. 

According to iSpot, Cicis spent about $100k on national TV ads YTD during programming such as "The Bold and the Beautiful," "The Young and the Restless," "CBS News Dallas-Fort Worth at 11A," "Wheel of Fortune" and "Dr. Phil." Cicis cut spend in this channel during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. It returned to the channel in H2 of 2021 spending around $176.2k. 

Per Pathmatics, Cicis earned 571.4m impressions YTD through Facebook ads (57%) and Instagram ads (43%). It placed 100% of these ads site direct onto facebook.com and instagram.com. It spent around $4.9m on digital display ads YTD, a huge increase from $355.1k spent in this channel during the same time period of 2021. Full-year spend jumped from $2.4m in 2020 to $7.5m in 2021. 

Sellers-- I believe Cicis mainly targets millennial moms and Gen-Zers. It focuses most of its ad dollars on digital display ads. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cicis was a big time national TV spend, and while it still utilizes the channel, I do not think it will ever allocate a massive budget towards TV ads. Digitals likely provide the best ROI, considering its young target audience. It also invests in OOH and local broadcast TV ads, per Kantar.
