Score 58 - Close Watch: Hard Rock International names new CMO
Hard Rock International, a music-themed hotel and restaurant chain, has hired Ralph Aruzza as vice president of sales and marketing. He appears to be replacing CMO John Galloway, who led marketing for eight years. We'll keep you posted as we learn more. Aruzza's previous positions include CMO at Belmond (formerly known as Orient-Express Hotels) and sales and marketing VP at Rosewood Hotels and Resorts.
An outside CMO function hire is the number one sign that a marketing vendor review will occur in the following 9-12 months. So, agency and martech readers with hospitality experience should begin reaching out.

For solely the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino brand, iSpot reports a 2017 national TV spend of $123,018 (see show targeting right). Their 2016 spend was $127,236 and was allocated to the same shows.
Pathmatics reports that $1.1 million went to display ads last year, up $600,000 from 2016. Top targeted ad destinations were nbcmiami.com, expedia.com, hotels.com, nola.com and tripadvisor.com. Ads were mostly bought direct or programmatically through Drawbridge.
Other top marketing channels for Hard Rock include print, outdoor (both of which went up from 2016), along with B2B events, social media, earned media and partnerships with famous musicians.
