Southeastern Media Opps: Kahwa Coffee names AOR, opens first in-store cafes at Publix locations

Paradise as their agency of record (AOR). Paradise will handle creating strategic planning, brand development, creative services, PR, advertising media and data analytics. Kahwa currently houses 14 cafes scattered across the Tampa area. They have been around for 13 years and just released a "Lucky 13" roast in celebration, but their facilities haven't expanded outside of that select area of Florida just yet. They do have their minds set on further expansion, however; the newest warehouse and headquarters recently moved to the larger St. Petersburg location.

Although you have to go to Florida to get the full experience, Kahwa products are also available in Southeastern Winn Dixie locations (most often in Publix, with 130 stores selling the product). Most recently, Publix is test-hosting three Kahwa in-store cafes, two in Florida and one in North Carolina, reported by Progressive Grocer late this month. Press releases reveal a possible housing of these cafes in all 130 Publix locations by the end of the year, but this has yet to be confirmed.

If this doesn't scream "we're planning on further expansion!," I don't know what does. Coffee, as we all know, is in its golden age, reportedly a $14.4b industry, per Food Business News (FBN). Additionally, the market's "ready-to-drink" category shows a continual growth thanks to the endless single serve coffee options, with millennials as the lead consumers.

Millennials are usually coffee's target audience due to their monetary investment via single-serve beverages), but Statista's coffee consumer data reveals the top consumers of coffee are actually +60 (Baby Boomers).

We don't currently have spend data, but the appointment of an AOR indicates marketing budgets should be on the rise in the near future. The Publix in-store cafes should also open more ad space.

Sellers in the Southeast (Florida, specifically), will have advantage securing revenue. Keep this company on your radar to track high ROI channels as they grow.
