Their mission is to help their clients be good stewards with their money. The firm was co-founded by Lytle Rather and Chris Kittrell in May of 2000 out of their desire to reach beyond the platform of "selling" financial instruments to customers. They thought it was important to form an organization that would offer sound financial guidance and fiscally responsible investment advice to individuals, families, and businesses so they could pursue their goals and dreams. Out of that simple idea, a one-office/two-desk business was started that focused on their clients. Lytle and Chris began answering the phones, completing paperwork, and servicing clients; and success came from this effort. A strategic alliance was formed with a relative newcomer to syndicated radio, Dave Ramsey, and in late 2000 Rather & Kittrell was named as Endorsed Local Provider for wealth management in the Greater Knoxville area. Ramsey's common sense advice fit nicely with the firm's desire to serve clients through education and empowerment. Rather & Kittrell has built relationships with many successful business people. The satisfaction with the services they received on the personal wealth advisory level led them to request the firm's help in managing their corporate retirement plans. The company now manages over 110 retirement plans and works with some of the top names in the Knoxville and East Tennessee business community. The firm also works with clients as an independent third party consultant in the areas of plan investment and operation. What began as a commitment from Lytle and Chris to the simple philosophy of educating clients while offering excellent service at a fair price has blossomed into an established firm that is a market leader in East Tennessee for wealth advisory and retirement planning.
