CanvasPrints.com hires marketing chief (Score 59)

CanvasPrints.com (CP) has a new CMO as of March 2022. Mary Shanahan joins from Graphik Dimensions, where she served as marketing & customer care VP for about six years. Shanahan has been tasked with updating the brands imagery, website and merchandise expansion. I believe this is the company's first-ever CMO. CP launched in 2019 and it allows users to upload photos to create personal canvas prints. I advise readers to watch this company closely because I think it will ramp spend up soon and it may need some agency assistance.

According to Adbeat, CP spent about $425 on digital display ads over the last 365 days, compared to just $187 spent in this channel during the 365 days prior. It placed 59% of these ads programmatically through Google Display Network and Google DV360 onto sites such as politico.com, ksat.com, aol.com, nytimes.com and target.com. It placed 41% of these ads through YouTube onto youtube.com.

Sellers-- CP does not have a massive advertising budget yet as it only launched in 2019. However, it does seem poised to start ramping spend up soon, especially following the CMO hire. Right now, it invests in digital display ads, and I predict it will continue to focus on online marketing. I also believe it will mainly target Gen-X and millennial women. Start contacting Shanahan soon to see what types of ad space you can provide.

Agency & martech readers-- Get in touch with the new CMO soon in order to be top-of-mind. I do not think that you will face competition from any incumbent shops. I advise readers to offer PR/communication services and to focus your pitches on helping this company build brand awareness.
