Alto Pharmacy promotes marketing leader amid spend decreases (Score 59)

Alto Pharmacy promoted Michael Krueger to CMO, effective January 2022. Krueger joined the company in 2020 as marketing head, and was the interim marketing lead at Bed Bath & Beyond prior to that. I believe this is the company's first CMO. It also recently completed a series E funding round that brought in $200m. Alto is a full-service pharmacy that offers free delivery.

According to Pathmatics, Alto earned 20.3m impressions in 2021 through desktop video ads (72%), Facebook ads (22%) and Instagram ads (6%). It placed 100% of these ads site direct onto sites such as hulu.com, facebook.com and instagram.com. It spent $386.7k on digital display ads in 2021, just 21% of the $1.8m spent in this channel during 2020. It has not allocated any budget towards this channel this year.

Sellers-- Alto targets a wide range of consumers; however, I believe it is primarily attempting to reach millennials and Gen-Xers. It currently allocates the majority of its ad dollars towards digital channels. It decreased spend in 2021, and it has not placed any digital ads so far this year, so I am unsure about its future plans. Start contacting the new CMO to find out more about his future plans to find out what types of ad space you may be able to offer.

Agency & martech readers-- Our researchers are working to confirm any possible agency relationships this company may have. I advise offering PR/communication assistance, and to focus your pitches on helping Alto build brand awareness.
