Campaign Imminent: Fair taps first CMO & CXO after landing first funding round (Score 80)

To be fair, to be fair, to be faaaaair - interest-free loan provider Fair named Toni Harrison as its first CMO, effective March 2021. Founder and CEO Khalid Parekh mentioned that the company has "disruptive" marketing plans for its launch over the coming months, which I expect to lead to forays into various advertising channels. Harrison, most recently the managing partner and PR president at Ten35, has also served in total-market, multicultural strategy positions at consumer brands such as Polaris, Pepsi and McDonald's.

In January 2021, Fair also hired Kevin Mayes as its first CXO; Mayes was previously the CRO at HealthConnexx. Now, he works alongside Harrison to lead Fair's brand experience; he also oversees digital experience and digital marketing tools.

Amid these hires, Fair landed a $20m funding round in February, per Crunchbase, and both Harrison and the funds will support the company's aforementioned, upcoming launch. Fair's goal is to value people over profit, offering fair (ha) banking solutions to women, Latinx and Black communities who often suffer from pay gaps and higher banking fees. According to a Bankrate study, Latinx and Black consumers pay twice the amount in banking fees as white Americans do.

Of course, since it hasn't yet officially launched, Fair hasn't yet invested in national advertising; this will change, however, as it makes its debut.

Agency & martech readers - These leadership shifts, along with more available funds, could easily allow Fair the freedom to outsource work for upcoming work to support its brand launch. Get in touch to find out.
