Sonic is already looking for his replacement, according to a statement. So, in the meantime, start putting pitches together to be ready when the new marketing decision maker takes over. Sonic's fiscal year ends Aug. 31 and summer makes up the bulk of their revenue, meaning there's plenty of time to hire a new exec ahead of summer 2018 planning. Good bye "Two Guys" commercials 

Also, make sure you're top-of-mind with other key decision makers, such as Sonic veteran Christina Bell Vaughan, who was just Zenith, media AOR, since 2010, according to Winmo.

Sellers - Sonic has seemingly spent a fortune forever on national TV, and, somehow. that budget keeps rising to fund even more "Two Guys" ads. Also, their direct response (DR) outlays were up last year, as part of an emphasis placed on updating marketing for the 21st Century (research

TV Breakdown: Sonic spent $212.2 million on national TV ads the last year (see targeting right), up from $163.4 million in 2015, according to iSpot.tv

Digital Breakdown: $4.5 million garnered 223.8 million impressions the last year, up from $4.3 million for 278.4 million in 2015, Pathmatics reports. Last year, desktop video rose to 87%, or $3.9 million, of budget from 62% in 2015. This explains the drop in impressions year-over-year despite higher spending. 

Last year, almost all of Sonic's impressions were bought site direct. YouTube was utilized the most, at $2.1 million fro 108.6 million desktop video and mobile video impressions.

Other top targeted sites, all of which received at least $100,000, include nydailynews.com, Viacom's mtv.com, cbssports.com, 11alive.com, espn.com, Turner's nba.com, Comcast NBC's bncsports.com, washigntontimes.com and Viacom's logotv.com.
