Millennial Media Opps: Visit Bastrop launches rebrand, supporting campaign to drive tourism

Augustine, the "Welcome To It All" tagline and campaign reflects the city's core brand message: charm, hospitality, historic heritage and spirited adventures.

Bastrop allocates roughly $1.4 million annually towards marketing. During 2019, however, it plans to move $5,000 from its marketing budget towards sponsoring community events. It is also hiring a digital marketing manager in order to drive social media activity.

Bastrop hasn't yet established a top spending period, so sellers should reach out throughout the year to secure revenue. It will likely focus on digital, social media and research shows millennials covet small-town charm.

Within the past two years, Adbeat reports that Bastrop has spent $1,700 on digital display placed through Google on texasmonthly.com and tripadvisor.com. Kantar reports a total 2017 US media spend of $178,300.

Agency & martech readers - Augustine has only been AOR since March 2018, and with such a short tenure, it's unlikely to kick the bucket anytime soon (average AOR tenure is 3 to 4 years). Keep in mind, however, that the tourism board named Susan Smith its president and CEO in September. Under new leadership, we may still see agency shifts.
