Score 60 - On the Brink: BurgerFi plans rapid expansion with Air Force partnership

FL-based burger chain BurgerFi is doubling down on aggressive growth plans. Since the Air Force wanted to bring in new chains appealing to diners' preferences for healthy, transparent ingredients, the company was able to open locations on air Force bases. It also operates in various airports and international locations.

During the past 12 months, Adbeat reports that BurgerFi's digital display ad spend has increased (116%) to $31,600 from the $14,600 spent from Oct 2017-2018. Ads are mostly placed programmatically via Google ($30,900) on sites such as accuweather.com ($4,700), franchisetimes.com and urbandictionary.com.

BurgerFi tends to target better-for-you parents, especially millennials and Gen-X. It currently operates around 125 locations, in every region except for the Northwest; sellers able to drive foot traffic will have the upper hand (view locations here). It also uses cause marketing; current sponsors include St. Jude.
